I drove my heep in today since I got the top on. Was wondering if anybody might want to join me on an excursion on the way home. I am going to take a not so short short cut over to Loyalton on the way home. Just about 2 miles N. of Bordertown near the bug station you hang a left and go through a gate that goes across the creek crossing. From there head up to Balls Canyon and come up and over Staversville, from there drop down into Loyalton. I know it seems kind of far for you's all but some of the best scenery in the entire area and lots of wild life and nobody to bug us. So who's in? I know this will be a solo mission but I figured I would throw it out if nobody had anything to do and wanted to see some new area. BYOB.

Stv,

This one isnt too far for you. Havent been through on the 395 side, I know that there are some drainages to play in on that side, a huge valley back up in there and some old cabins, then at the top there are several sweet hill climbs up to 8500 elevation. Then down the back side into Loyalton there are some good wheelin. Hill climbs, creek beds, drainages, sage brush to mow. We can make what we want pretty much. Around 5-5:30. let me know.

Hey Mark,

Friday night I headed out to the bug station there off of 395. Went through the gate there and headed down to the river crossing. The beavers have damned the area up so the water crossing was much deeper than normal, up to the door almost. Then I headed up through Evans canyon which is over one from Balls Canyon. I ended up getting way back up in some beautiful area, sages and pine trees. Lots of water up in there as well. So got to a fork in the road and to the left where I needed to go the colvert was dug out and there wasnt a way to get around it as somebody had cut trees down everywhere blocking it. Then I went up hill for a ways and the road just ended. So I am going to have to go back up and cut out the trees w/ my saw, didnt have it that day. Also, I think I will attempt coming up from Loyalton side and dropping in. I spoke w/ my dad and he said that the last time they went they had to make their own trail a ways to connect in. I need to go scout a bit more b4 we throw a trail ride together, but when we do it will be a fun one. Cool area up in there, and nobody to bother ya. I'll keep you posted.

another cool place to explore is just EAST of the bug station-- u can see the zig zag trail going up the mountain face. There is a nearly complete ore reduction mill there-- ore carts, and all other things to make a mill. lots to explore. don't recall if its 4x4 friendly-- i found it on my quad. look for it next time u pass that way.

Yeah Mark,

I know right where that spot is. Some of my friends have been up there on quads as well. They said its a pretty cool place, I dont imagine that my jeep couldnt make it up there. That might be another fun run sometime later in Nov. I have some work to do on my heep b4 this coming weekend.

After I left long valley I ran into my friend over in the sierra valley w/ his 85 4runner and he and another guy were headed up to Bald Ridge Loop road off of the Old hennes pass road near Jackson Meadows to go deer hunting so I grabbed my guns as well and headed up w/ them. We 4x4 all night up in that area, got my front passenger tire about 5 ft. in the air, little to much flex for my exhaust system, it is now bailing wired up. Went to bed about 2pm a little more wasted than I wanted to be and saw some nastly looking clouds over the horizon, and awoke to my tent being crashed in on me due to the 5 or 6 inches of snow that fell. That morning we wheeled in the first snow of the year, had so much fun but fealt like hell, the yota guy had to pull over and throw up. Good times. Hey, you headed up friday night or sat morning this weekend? Whats up w/ the hillsangels website?

Aah, state law-- you play, you pay! hahaha...

Did u ever get a chance to get that iron from Joe's Ranch?

I'm headed up Sat morning, leading a caravan from Boomtown Casino gas station-- up dog valley road to 1st summit, west to 2ed summit and branch off heness pass rtoad at groundhog rock and on into BVCG. should be there by 10am or so...

will spend the night saturday-- last voluntary camp out of the season.
sunday morning either head down to Loyalton for breakfast at Country Kitchen or head home the way i came.

As for the HA site, Chris, the webmaster, went to work for Jim Frens down at N'th Degree Mobility in CC, and he's been REALLY busy getting several rigs ready for SEMA.

I pay a lot to play, goes w/ the turf.

You know, I hadnt made it back up into Joes ranch yet, it had been so damn dry up there that I didnt want to start any fires and burn the whole country down, I would be in big trouble w/ the locals. He said that he is in no big hurry for it, so I will probably go up in there and play in gas gulch again if nobody is in my way the next time.

Cool, hopefully I will have my own little caravan of jeeps and toys coming up from Loyalton. 10 am or so sounds good. Doesnt look like there will be any rain or anything this week so the trail will be dry. Thats the way I would be headed as well.

Speaking of Sardine Valley, there was some highly suspicious activity going on out there last night. Not the typical place you see a $60K Lexus going 45 miles an hour through Smithneck, guy passed me on some double yellows heading out of Sierra Brooks up the canyon so I tried to keep up, caught him right before Sardine where it got rough, passed him and came up on a 92ish Caddy Deville w/ Gold rims and slammed. The two met up and were doing some type of exchange, I didnt have any guns w/ me so I just let them be. Very, very suspicious I would have to say.

As for sunday, maybe we could go head up to Castle Rock and up to the top above Joes ranch if we dont feel to bad in the morning.

Sema would be cool. A couple of the sales guys are headed down to Vegas for that. Since Im a friggin newb I dont get to go:(
