I was looking for a web site that I could watch to monitor conditions. After this weeks warm spell a lot of snow should be gone.
The Truckee looks like they are dumping water from all the lakes as fast as they can.

In my experience they usually don't open the gate until the trail is dry, not just when the snow is gone. I would not expect it to be open for at least another month to six weeks.

www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/do...er/recreate.htm gives the road information for Barret Lake and other roads around that area. Or call 530-647-5415. The web site says that they expect to open the Barret Lake trail sometime in July.
