best local price on an AR?

I have a friend looking for a basic AR15. I saw S&W and Ruger's for $499 at the gun show. Anyone have an opinion on who in town might have the best price right now?

hell, he can pay me another $100 and I'll walk him through the build process in about an hour in person. Its more fun than he would think. And cheaper than just about anything else.

I suggested building it. I've built 3 and would do it for him for free. He's not into guns. His wife wants one and he doesn't want to put any energy into it. Thanks though.
