WOW! I am glad I found what I did then.
Since I haven't renewed in a while is there a class portion I need to finish for re-certification or is it JUST shooting 30 rounds? Every single time I've renewed there have been different requirements from "qualify with each firearm you will carry" to "shoot a 22 and carry a 500 if you want" so I just want to get a little preview.
Looking at Utah it looks like all would need for a renewal would be a copy of my current permit and a passport photo. No fingerprints? No certification course? Just "fill this out and send it back with money."?

Requirements haven't changed much besides the "type of firearm".... Alway was a minimum 4 hour class for renewal and Range time.... Many instructors just cut corners.... Main thing is.... U can now qualify with a. 22 revolver and carry a..... Desert eagle 50

Paperwork submitted about the first week of April. Permit received the first week of July. They didn't tell me my hair was hanging down in my face so the photo sucks. About 3 months but well under the 120 work days I was expecting.

Should be about 100 days from when you drop it off. I wasn't sure if weekends counted which if they don't it's faster than 120. I don't feel like looking up the law for how fast they have to issue it and assume calendar, not business days.

The statute simply states 120 days, no specification. It’s always been interpreted as calendar days to my knowledge, and if they tried to claim business days it could easily be challenged.

Just received my renewal permit. My appointment at the Washoe Co S.O. was 1 Dec and Issue Date is 18 Feb.
According to SO, due to the state of emergency (COVID), all current permits are valid up to 90 days after the state of emergency is lifted. Even with this I decided to renew to get it taken care of.
When I originally scheduled online, on the SO website, I was scheduled out to Aug 2021 for my appointment. I called the SO to make sure things would be okay because I was not sure of what the current situation was, that is when I was informed of the 90 days. At this time the clerk I spoke with checked the schedule and was able to get me in on the 1 Dec date (I had erroneously scheduled a fingerprint appt for that day and they were able to swap them out).
I am not sure why there is such a long wait time because the office was quiet. I was the only person waiting for anything that pertains to permits/fingerprinting/etc.

They had a few people doing apps last week when I was in.
After taking my CCW class in the first week of Jan 2021, I was able to get in to WCSO last week. I originally had an appointment date of Jan 2022. From what I've been able to gather, there are several issues making this take so long....
1: WCSO is slowed by our dickhead governor's occupancy limits.
2: The FBI seems to be taking a bit to process BG and prints.
3: WCSO will allow multiple appointments from a single applicant, over inflating the schedule.
Sign in on your phones and keep mashing the refresh button and you will most likely get in earlier than expected.

Seems like there's options out there still. I was able to get in quick at RG&R. Not sure I'd do it again there though. Instructor was fine but the class was big and took near 10hrs. Apparently I ended up in the "I've never touched a firearm" group. Think it cost me $120.
