Progress today. Chased all the threads on the knuckle studs, replaced the axle U-joints, greased the spindle bearings and mounted them up. Still need to extract a couple broken bolts and then the outers and calipers go on.
So. Doing a little reading and learned, the 86 E150 came with a Ford 9” with a 69.25” WMS. The 79 Bronco 44 has a 67” WMS. I happen to have a set of 2” wheel spacers that fit. That leaves the front 1.75” wider than the rear. Pretty ideal.
Here’s how it sits as of this morning. Wheel spacers are bolted up. Calipers and tie rod as well. Learned with the Reid knuckle and hi steer arm, the brake line port on the caliper is slightly obstructed. I’ll pull the caliper once I’m installing and mount the brake line. Radius arms should be back from powder coating today and then I can mount them up with the new 7 degree C bushings and trail gear drop brackets. Mount up the Duff lower coil buckets and it’ll be time to put the van on Jack stands. Bananas.
Got the Raduis arms back from the Powder coater. Turns out, he got in a pretty bad car accident and couldn't complete the job so, i'm going to spend the weekend wire wheeling and painting them so this project can keep going. Hang tight. Updates coming soon.
Finally some free time and progress. Half a days worth of tear down. All that’s left is radius arms and hangers and the old shocks. Then it’s clean up and start fitting the 44. Stoked to get some time in on it this morning before it got too hot.
