Hello Ladies and Gent,
My name is Steve and I just joined the Reno 4x4 forum.

I've been four wheeling for a few years now but nothing hard core. I'd be happy to join any local runs if time permits. I live in Spanish Springs. I posted a couple of pics of my rig.

See you around the hills!
Steve

Steve, welcome to Reno4x4.com. Me and my wife actually walk by your house when we take our son for a walk, we live off of Alena. Nice H1. Sam at samco fabrication is our resident Hummer specialist, he works mostly with H2 though, doing race prep for Rod Hall.

ooo pretty... hey so let us know when the next time you go out wheeling on a good trail. i wanna be there; ive never seen an H1 in action in real life... with the spec sheet of them, i bet theyre pretty impressive.

make sure you post up even if its only like 2 days in advance so that we can meet up with you. check our events and trail runs also the hardcore section for trail runs. sometimes we plan stuff like 3 months in advance and sometimes its 3 hours in advance.. then every timeframe inbetween!!! either way, i look forward to meeting and wheeling with you...

where do you like wheeling at in the area?

Hey Steve, good to see you here. If you need any help with your H1 let me know. I prep RHR's H2, but I preped H1's and built and modified many special military projects since 1998. I still teach a basic H1 field repair class for special forces groups. I can help you with any problems or upgrades with your H1.
Do you know Dave with High Mobility, how do you know those guys?

I'd love to go through your basic repair course. Me and tool just don't mix well.

Yes I know Dave G and Paul P of High Mobility Inc. I went through an off road weekend adventure w/ them a few years back in my Ramcharger w/ my son to Gerlach/Soldier Meadows. Been friends ever since. They have used my H1 and me and my H1 on a few occasions for jobs/events including a winery tour next month. They wanted to by this H1 but I beat them to it.

Can I stop by your shop some time to chat? I'd like to look into having the fuel pump adjusted to get more power out of my 6.2L. That's about all that I know of that can be done to the 6.2L. I've already got the factory 4 inch exhaust and a K & N (non turbo's do fine w/ these).

I'm happy to go four wheeling with you guys but you won't see me tearing up my rig on any extreme trails. H1's cost to darn much then repairs on top of that just aren't cheap. I've already got fiberglass damage on the hood/wheel well area that I'm too cheap to fix. I've been to the Rubicon from West Tahoe to Observation Point in my H1. That was our destination and made it in about 8 hours in and out. I got a few more pinstripes. Pumpkin patch was the most difficult and time consuming for the 3 H1's and 1 H2. The H2 came out w/ a leaking rear diff. He got hung up on a bfr at Observation Point and had to be pulled off.

oh yea!!! i would love to see what those things are made of... ive never wheeled with one before, but i really wanna see how an H1 compares to a built TJ

hey ive heard some good things about this mall trail... theres on called park lane that ive been just dying to go on... i really need to get my d60's in first though; some of the buddies who have run it, says that there are some obstacles that need 35 spline. i just am not sure if my vehicle is built quite enought for it yet...

Welcome Steve!

H1s are cool. I am rather partial to my Jeep but H1s are capable, especially in the desert. Speaking of which, I also have been to Soldier Meadows in the 90's. I did a tour with Rod Hall and his son, and driving the H1 was a great experience. Zebaru posted up about a run to School Bus Canyon this Saturday. That is in the same area I ran with Rod Hall's group but we didn't go to that particular spot. It shouldn't be that extreme at all but I do imagine there will be some good areas here and there to make it fun. You should join us that day if you are free.

Thanks Ericsxj,
I too like Jeeps and would have bought a Rubicon Unlimited but they weren't out when I was looking to upgrade my rig. I got a great deal on this H1 and couldn't pass it up.

I'm sure Soldier Meadows is the exact same since you were there in the 90's. It's very rustic. The meals at the ranch are fit for a king!

I am working on those dates your going to School Bus canyon otherwise I would go. Thanks for the invite.
