That would have to restrict all "for sale" ads to Premium Members Only, even for Jeep parts or whatever. If you are a regular user of the forum you should have coughed up the $15 / year anyway. Unfortunately, some of the one-post-wonders will use "Introductions" to post their ad and these should be deleted as soon as they are detected.
Just my 2 cents...$15/year ain't much.

Just to clarify on who's able to create new threads in Firearms Trading Post (a decision hasn't been made whether to apply this to the rest of the Marketplace).

  • If you are a Regular Member with less than 25 posts, you CAN NOT create a new thread.
  • If you are a Regular Member with more that 25 posts, you CAN create a new thread.
  • If you are a Premium Member or Vendor, you CAN create a new thread, regardless of the number of posts you have.
  • Anyone can reply to an existing thread.

I will say this - I have been lurking on the forum for quite some time even before making an account. I made an account to PM and/or respond to posts as I'm more a firearms guy than a 4x4 guy...... and I think these changes are completely reasonable. Very good idea, and a good way of encouraging interaction over gouging/scamming. Heck, maybe I'll end up lurking less due to them, and make me more of a member of a community than before. Just my $0.02, for what it's worth.

Probably 2 cents.

Thanks for taking a stand with gun "scalpers"... they are the same dirtbags who ask $100 for a $30 game ticket, or 7K for a 3K CJ. Don't fall for the gun hype $1200 AR15s are not worth 2K+... things will settle down soon and you'll be able to buy a S&W M&P AR15 for $1250 again. This is America, we have a Constitution, and the good guys always win.

Capitalism. Supply and demand. Perhaps you would enjoy socialism where everyone has the same thing and pays the same price because then its fair.

I agree with you, yet the market is conducting this concert...not the manufacturers, not the distributors and not us the vendors......I am prob the only shop in town that is still getting daily deliveries....small....quantities, but I still sold a new inventory of roughly 30 sig 516s, 30 or so Colts, some AKs....but I didnt even post one on here cause I personally think that the prices are stupid, but when I have ppl fighting to pay 3k for a sig 516 and 2K for colts...god bless them, I might be out of business in a few months......I pay the piper....and Joe is paying me, when I can, I try to help my core of customers and friends and the R4x4 guys.....but it is crazy out there...

I can't say that I have even give that a thought Sharon. I hope that things don't play out that way. Most of us who are yelling and screaming about "what may come" don't have our livelihood at stake...

I didn't see him suggest anyone intervene, except to remove them from the site. I think that's fair.

It's like paying $8 for a beer at a game, they can do as they please but fucking assholes god damn son of a bitch ************************

Another good option would be to be able to omit sections/forums that you have no interest in. I.e. if I want to never see anything on RC cars, Firearms, or Sports, etc. I can check which forums I want to see or not see. For the people that like to just see "New Posts", etc.

That's my solution to those that are complaining about all the gun talk on here.

In regards to fixing the one post wonders, I do love this fix. It's a step in the right direction.

He is talking about scampers with football tickets and people selling AR 15s for more than he wants to pay. Sounds like he believes someone should prevent this from happening just like they do for scalping tickets to a football game.

If you don't like $8 beers don't drink their beer. Drink whiskey.

Price is determined by the market. If someone will pay $200 for two seats on the 50 to the Boise state Nevada game ill ell it to them even though I paid $60 each. Apparently I'm an asshole for doing that but something tells me he wouldn't tell someone "no, I'll only take face value for my tickets because its not fair to you to pay more"

Kairo, as u know me and most mods dont see eye to eye, I came up with the idea a long time ago and was always shut down, good to see you took it in your own hands and pushed it in! kudos to you on a job well done!

Just another reason I'll never shop at Maccabee. First you’re upset that a guy in Gardnerville is offering AK build classes for next to nothing ($35) on this site without a vendor account. Who do you think pays for that vendor membership. It's called pass through I do. No surprise you are also now for driving up prices once again on personal sales by requiring a membership to post sales. Let's see so you’re on here to drive up prices so your shop is more competitive. I get your game. I hope everyone else can see through it to. I am all for fair practices and I agree that this site is for 4x4. Maybe it's time for someone to start a Nevada forum for gun sales and talk. I know southern Nevada is hurting for a forum with sales. Yes, I have a truck that has not been washed in two years and there is dirt under the fenders. I have a dirt bike and I am a sixth generation Nevadan. What I find interesting is that a Google search brings up Reno 4x4 and the first thread offering (meaning most visited/popular) is the firearms thread. Maybe it's time for a firearms forum. I'd pay $20 just to stop the bantering from the 4x4 community.
