stripped mount threads in the tranny

i managed somehow to bugger up the threads in the A999 tranny where the tranny mount bolts up. i assume it's cast alum. what's the better way to fix it? tap for a larger bolt or use on of those thread repair kits?

i would say thread repair because making it longer can cause some problems later on

I'd drill it out and run a helicoil in it, take the bolt with you to the parts house and they should be able to get you the kit to use the same bolt

Heli-coils are really easy to do and stronger than the original threads. That is what I would suggest. R&E fasteners has them.

Heli-coil is what I ended up doing. Got the kit from Napa. I'm a believer now.
