Beginning in 2020, Nevada will require sales and transfers between private individuals to be processed through a federally licensed dealer to ensure that a background check is conducted.1

Some transfers are exempt from this requirement. They include:

  • Transfers to law enforcement agencies as well as to law enforcement officers, security guards, federal officials or members of the armed forces if they are acting within the scope of their employment
  • Transfers of antique firearms2
  • Transfers between immediate family members3
  • Transfers to the executor of an estate
  • Temporary transfers for hunting, competition, or for use at a shooting range4
no reference of anyone holding a CCW. Beware, there some sting operations happening in the reno area. Careful who you deal with...

My understanding is that if the purchaser has a carry permit the background check is waived, thus no backlog. Does anyone know any differently?

This is not true. A CCW only exempts you from the background check when purchasing from a dealer. ALL PRIVATE PARTY SALES are subject to the new bullshit laws and must be performed through a shop.

But, whether or not you choose to do that...well....thats on you :)

You very well may be correct, but that makes no sense at all. If the rationale is to make sure one acquiring a weapon isn't a bad guy why does the seller of the weapon matter? Stupid law.
